Terms of use
The Ground Rules for This Site
These terms cover owlmovementmd.com: browsing it, sending us something through a form, and accounts for partners, people and families. By using the site you agree to them.
Last updated October 22, 2026
Who We Are
The OWL Movement (Outreach With Locals) asks Carroll County businesses and nonprofits to support their community, and makes sure the ones who do are recognized. We are a community group, not a registered charity or nonprofit, so nothing given through us is tax deductible.
Events and Listings Come from the Community
Most events on this site are run by other organizations, not by us. Partners post their own listings, and we check them and may change or remove any of them, but each organizer is responsible for their own event, and details can change. Check with the organizer before you go.
Volunteering
When you sign up for a volunteer date, you are volunteering with that event's organizer. They set the tasks, times and rules, and they are responsible for the event. Signing up does not make you an employee or agent of The OWL Movement. We cannot promise that a date counts toward service hours, so check with your school and the organizer.
Giveaways
Prizes in our giveaways come from the local businesses that offer them. Each giveaway's post explains how to enter, when it ends and how the winner is picked, and entering never costs anything. Winners may be named and pictured in our posts and on this site.
What You Send Us
When you send an event, flyer, logo, photo or description, you confirm that it is true and that you have the right to share it. You let us show it on this site and on our social pages to promote the event, your organization or the movement. We may shorten it, fix a typo, or decide not to post it.
Accounts
Accounts for partners, people and families are opened by us, or for a partner's own team, by that partner. Keep your sign in to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used it. Some things you post go live right away, and some wait for us, such as a need for the Needs Board. Either way, we may change, hide or remove anything posted through an account.
Introductions and Contact Details
We are the go between. A partner's public profile shows what that partner chooses to share, and every other contact detail stays with us. When you ask us for an introduction, or post or answer a need, we alone decide whether, when and how to pass it on, and we do not have to give a reason. Contact details pass between members only through an introduction the other side accepts, or a yes on a need, and only for that purpose. Never add someone to a mailing list, sell to them, or share their details with anyone else.
Fair Asks
To keep this a good place for everyone, we limit how often anyone can post needs and ask for introductions. Asking the same people again and again, pushing after a no, or using an introduction or a need to sell something counts as spam. Anyone can say no to any ask, and nobody owes anyone help.
Help and Offers Between Members
Help, offers, discounts, deals and any other arrangement made between partners, or between a partner and a person or family, are between them, not us. We do not provide, check or guarantee them, including their quality, safety, timing or cost, and we are not a party to any agreement they make. Money and gift cards are never asked for or offered through the Needs Board.
Pausing or Closing Accounts
We may pause, limit or close any account, take down anything posted through it, or stop passing along someone's asks, at any time and at our own discretion, for example for spam, bad intentions, unreasonable asks or breaking these terms. We usually say why, but we do not have to.
Please Don't
- Post anything false, misleading, hateful or illegal.
- Use the forms, the Needs Board or an introduction to sell, spam, or collect other people's details.
- Try to break into, overload or copy the site.
- Pretend to be someone you are not.
No Guarantees
We work hard to keep the site accurate and running, but it is provided as is. To the fullest extent Maryland law allows, The OWL Movement is not liable for losses that come from using the site, from events run by others, from help or offers arranged between members, or from information that turns out to be wrong.
Links to Other Sites
Links to partners, organizers, Facebook and other sites are there to help you. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for them.
Changes to These Terms
When we change these terms, we will update this page and the date at the top. Using the site after that means you accept them.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland.
